Costumes are fun to dress up in, especially 50's poodle skirts. Red Hat ladies would certainly agree, since they make it a point to wear red hats, purple outfits, and sometimes even purple 50's poodle skirts at their Red Hat events. They know how to have a fun time, and here are some more stories of their fun adventures they have celebrated around the World.
Parades are a popular choice for many Red Hat events. The LPGN Ladybugs, of Florida, decided to be part of the "Keepers Day" parade. They dressed up in full garb and rode through the streets in a trolley. A purple 50's poodle skirt could have been a good choice for this type of event.
Canadian Red Hot Mamas, from Alberta, entered a float in their parade as well. Their float was a huge, red hat in honor of the Red Hat Society. Not surprisingly, their float won 1st prize in the parade.
A group of Red Hatters decided to brave the cold and get together to watch the Straw Bears Parade. Held in Whittlesey, England, the Straw Bears Parade highlights members of the community who dress up in straw costumes and parade around the streets after midnight. Even though it was minus 3 degrees Celsius, the Red hatters were still have to have a fun time together.
The Scarlet Widows, from Michigan, took a trip aboard the Manitou. The Manitou is the only tallship in the Grand Traverse Bay. They enjoyed the view, and eating their meal inside the galley of the tallship.
Red Hat events can happen anywhere, as long as it involves a Red Hatter. In Ajijic, Mexico five Queen members get together every so often for Cheap Tiffany Bracelets at the banks of Lake Chapala. They have a fun time visiting with each other, having all retired to Ajijic from the United States and Canada.
Texas hosted a very special event. Two chapters participated in the Wreaths Across America, in Ft. Bliss, Texas. The event honors fallen veterans, and they have high hopes of even more Red Hatters participating in the event next year.
